Florida has no state income tax, so you only pay federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare. For example, a single worker earning $60,000 a year takes home about $50,390 a year. That is about $4,199 a month, or $1,938.08 every two weeks, before benefits such as health insurance or a 401(k).

Florida is one of the states with no personal income tax. Florida cities and counties also do not charge a local income tax. Most workers still see federal income tax and FICA taxes on their pay stub. FICA means Social Security and Medicare. Employers pay Florida's unemployment tax (called reemployment tax) themselves, so it is not taken from your paycheck.

You pay 6.2% of your wages up to the 2026 limit of $184,500. Pay above that amount is not taxed for Social Security.
You pay 1.45% of all wages. If your wages are above $200,000, you pay an extra 0.9% on the amount over $200,000.
For example, a single worker with $60,000 in yearly wages has about $5,020 in federal income tax after the $16,100 standard deduction. Social Security is $3,720 and Medicare is $870. That leaves about $50,390 in take-home pay.

Florida's minimum wage is $15.00 an hour starting September 30, 2026. Tipped workers must receive at least $11.98 an hour in direct pay, and tips must bring them up to $15.00. A full-time worker at $15.00 an hour earns about $31,200 a year before tax ($15 × 40 hours × 52 weeks). Choose Hourly in the calculator to see that paycheck. If you want to turn an hourly rate into a yearly salary first, use our hourly to salary calculator.
This is a quick estimate, not a full payroll run. It does not include 401(k) or other retirement savings, health insurance, bonuses, tax credits, dependents, garnishments, or the special federal deductions for qualified tips and overtime. If you work extra hours, use the overtime pay calculator to estimate your gross pay first. Federal government workers can use the federal employee paycheck calculator, which includes FERS, TSP, and FEHB. Self-employed people pay tax differently, so a freelancer should start with the freelance rate calculator.
